If you have just 'found' a £94.50 bill, it sounds like you are in a mess with your finances.

I don't think you'll be able to change providers whilst you still owe money to BT so, frankly, I'd say it's time take a long hard look at all your bills and get yourself organised (I find prioritising always helps).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. If you do not pay your bill your line is suspended. Surely this is excellent practice? Why do you describe it as a rip-off?

You agreed to take a service at a certain price. It is up to you to pay your bills within seven days of receipt. You have access to an almost-live balance to know how much your bill will be. There is little reason not to pay on time.

Ah, with you now. Still, surely there's not much difference from your previous bill so you'd budgeted for the approximate total?

BTW, you might find the HERE link in my signature below useful in reducing that astonishing £180 voice telephony bill in future (with line rental being less than £34, you must have spent an eye-watering £146 on calls via BT).

I would be interested to know what tarriff the OP is on to pay £30 a month for broadband and £60 a month for the phone? £90 a month for what?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Might the OP be subscribing to that ridiculously bad idea called BT Vision, perhaps?

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??
  • Hi Madmish, Are these the first BT Bills that you have had since moving? If so they are likely to be so high because you are paying for serivce used up until the bill date plus 3 months in advance which is their standard policy. Also as you moved house recently and kept your service with them it's likely that you are in a contract term. If you leave BT will charge you a cancellation fee. I would certainly speak to hem about changing to a different calling package that includes more free calls.
