You ain't going to like this, but I would suggest, given the above; ie you don't have much cash and apparently don't really need a car, that you put the money to another use. There doesn't seem much logic in suffering the depreciation and running costs for it to spend most of the time sat in the drive. Houses tend to have unexpected expenses too.
Sorry, but that's my take on it.0 -
I am also female and very short (5' 1") and have driven a (now elderly) VW Passat for the last nine years. I bought it - expensively - as a 15 month old baby with 15k on the clock and it has now done 212,600 miles and I have a target of 250k and am confident of making it and probably going on towards 300k.
Tomorrow I am taking it to have the clutch replaced for the very first time, it is still on its original exhaust.
That car owes me nothing, it has been through so much with me. I would not hesitate to recommend one.0 -

I'd bet real money that you service it by the book, get anything that needs doing attended to promptly and it's mostly open road driving. Good going!
Oh thanks Adrian.... as it happens it didn't need a new clutch. It is losing a little performance pulling uphill. Garage though the clutch plate might be going - then they thought the turbo, but both are fine
so it appears there is a split tube leading to the turbo. they are getting the part from VW - it will cost me £55 and my car will be fine again! Love it.
OP - buy a Passat!0
