I have noticed in my store that only certain SA's will take them.

I would totally agree it just depends on the person on the till as to whether or not they take them.

I used to work on checkouts at Tesco.

For general coupons, there is nothing built into the checkout system that prompts the cashier if a customer has not bought the item. Therefore in theory you could give them a wad of coupons, they would all scan and take the money off, it is up to the cashier what to do. Tesco stated at the time that it was one coupon if they had not bought the product. But even if you had brought the product, you could use one more, you could always give 1 more coupon than bought products (i.e. o product, 1 coupon, 1 product, 2 coupon etc).

It is up to the cashier, and if you get a young lad like me who is annoyed that he has worked for 5 hours without a break, then he may scan all of them through! I once had a customer with a £10 off shopping coupon from somewhere. She had another and wanted to use both. I had been told I could only take one, but my stomach was rumbling so after she smiled nicely at me I took two!!!

The only coupons which will scan and say if the customer has not brought the product are Tescos own, ie. get 20p off £1 fruit and veg.

    Hope this helps!

Our Tesco banned all internet coupons a year ago. I might give them a go again.

My local Tescos seem to take any coupon. The self-scanners also work fine. Today, I used a Sainsburys £3 off a £30 spend in the SS, and then a young lad (always go to them following the tips on here) took a £1 off a magazine coupon from a newspaper, a tescos £4 off a £40 spend, and EIGHT Daz vouchers (worth £4.50), despite my not buying any Daz.:D

Would love to know where you got 8 DAZ coupons?????? Any tips?

Was in my local Tesco today - all cashiers have a message displayed at their tills along the lines of:

    Coupons:
Effective immediately, ensure only coupons cut from newpapers and magazines are accepted. No more than one coupon of any one type accepted per transaction - do not accept duplicates.
Competitors coupons not accepted unless Sainsburys for money off a spend e.g. £5 off a spend of £50. No other competitors coupons accepted.
Read the details of each coupon carefully to ensure they comply with the above rules and are otherwise valid.
In case of any query, call for duty manager.

Makro. I bought 2 x 8 boxes of 15 wash packs for a tenner each. Each of the packs was one of those "Vince's Millions", where you were guaranteed at least a 50p coupon. I got 7 x 50p and 1 x £1 in the first 8 we opened. Net result being 120 washes cost us £5.50, and £6 maximum, even if we get 8 x 50p coupons on the next lot.

    Result!

tesco extra in peterborough wont accept coupons unless you bought the item. The self scan now prompts the assistant to come and check and she opens the machine to make sure you have bought the items, been there done that so to speak..

Tescos aylesbury at broadfields take any voucher but only one if you havnt bought the items and depends on how much you spent as to how much in value they will take in vouchers.. ie if you spend £20 they wont take £10 worth etc ..

Its all down to the individual manager at the stores if they say no then no it is..

Get a sommerfield brochure and they have money off vouchers in them.

Last month they had some £5 off whisky ones.

Well these were a dream to use on self scan.

Went on thur night i bought a basket of bits n bobs and went to self scanner. Total shopping £11 odd.

Scanned a £5 then £1 then £1 so i go my shopping for just over £4.

Hubby went to next scanner and got me 2 bottles of woolfblast as it is on offer. So 3 bottles for £8 odd he used a £5 voucher so he paid just over £3 for the wine.

They always work at our selfscanners, only once have i had a lady tell me that i had used to many, and next time not to.
I just smiled and said sorry.

The somerfield brochure has vouchers usually for £1.50 off, these are much easier to use than 10p off ones.

I've loads of the £5 off ones left.
