I'm as keen as anybody to stop the banks ripping us off with £35 charges for £1 overdrafts, but what happens if we win all get our bank charges back and then find that the banks reintroduce the sorts of charges that were common 20 years ago e.g. 25p for every cheque that they handled, 10p for every standing order they paid and then on top of that they still charged you for being OD anyway.
Getting the charges reduced to a fair level amy just be inviting them to hit us elsewhere!

Exactly that's the whole point of the exercise - getting the charges reduced to a fair level for everyone. At the moment 20% of customers (and these are generally the ones who can least afford it) are effectively subsidising 'free banking' for the other 80%Getting the charges reduced to a fair level amy just be inviting them to hit us elsewhere!0
