He can claim from the criminal injuries compensation authority. cica,as sarah said. I think they are a charity,so the money would be alloted from them, not the attackers. There is a freephone number there too.
He will have been sent a leaflet by Victim Support, detailing the help they
can give.

Any doormen employed by a contract company have to be licensed by the sia.
I guess it would have been the Police,or council licensing authority who ,because of previous trouble had insisted on the cctv,if this is true.Try googling any press reports.0 -

Causing them some hassle would be "the point".0 -

as was mentioned before its an occupational hazard, but for customers to get attacked by a bouncer is very rare imo especially unprovoked attacks.
out of interest what town did this happen in ?
This was in High Wycombe - the club is still there, but operating under a different name so probably a different owner. I still have the dent in my leg to prove it - I particularly enjoyed sending photographs of the bloody wound to all concerned!0 -
i used to work as a doorman for a french nightclub - so the law may be different - but we had to ensure that we had a doorman / per set amount of people (500 capacity club - always had to have at least 3 doormen) maybe if you could prove that the club itself was short of their quota then you may have a case (if this even is a law in the UK) to be fair the industry is much better regulated here / doormen need licences - in france their is no such requirement, and we all carried pepper spray, as it is legal to use !). Again CCTV was not a legal requirement, but it was fitted to support the venue incase of attacks / assualts so that it could be shown to the police.0

We didnt sue the attackers, partly because we don't want to re-ignite the sitation now they have been in prison and secondly because one is on benefits, the other a student.
We are going to put in a claim to the criminal injuries but this doesnt take into account the impact on your future life0
