Yes it is possible. The freeview box has to be on the channel you want to record, so you cannot watch a different channel on the freeview box while recording. You need the scart cable to go from the freeview box to the video recorder not direct to the TV. You record and view by selecting one of the AV channels on the Video Recorder, the video recorder should allow you to record the AV channel, mine does.

Newer video recorders and the like are around that come with a DVB tuner for freeview, these would allow you to view a different freeview channel on the freeview box while recording another.

Works fine with my set up.
  • Thanks a million. Havent tried it yet but will certainly have ago.

Of course if you have a dual/twin receiver - like a Pace PVR - then you can watch another programme. And you can switch to analogue TV to watch another programme. Or have more than one Freeview receiver attached to the TV and just switch.

I worked out how to do this on my video recorder the other day. It took a while - there was a channel called Aux-1 or similar and this allowed the Freeview program to be recorded to tape.
    Happy chappy
  • Thanks for your help and sorry for beng late to thank you. Can I ask you where do I find Aux-1 channel?

    Thanks

Check if your video remote has an aux button, you can get into av/ L channels there.

I dont know if I can watch another channel when taping something, but you can go into timers through the menu button on your freeview remote and put in the timings of shows on different channels (at different times) the freeview box will turn over (as long as its left on!) and record these. I have to set my video for the corresponding times too but always stay on the same av channel .
My video tapes through L2 tho.

    Hope this makes sense!
