I have a desktop computer running vista and a samsung nc20 notebook running xp, the samsung comes without a cd drive, is there any way i could connect the samsung too my desktop and load some software on to it from the desktop cd drive( would a usb too usb cable work).
i know external cd drives are available but as i have two drives on my desktop it seems a shame not to be able to use them as required.

You should be able to share the optical drive in the desktop over the network with the Netbook. This guide from HP covers all of the steps and saves me typing out a procedure for you to follow..0
