Removing short cut - help please

Hi, I inadvertently created a short cut to my documents folder which I would like to remove. However, when I try to send the short cut to the recycle bin, the main folder containing all the data files goes with it. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to delete the short cut but keep the corresponding folder containing the actual files. Many thanks for any suggestions.

Are you sure it's a shortcut? does it have the little arrow symbol next to it?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Hi Strider - yes it does and the short cut is in the same folder. To explain further, the structure is like this:
Documents contains folder called personal folder
Then in personal documents I have several other folders - the one called LJG should contain the data files only, but it also has the short cut called LJG. It's this that I want to delete as it's pointless having it in the same folder.0 -
If it's just a shortcut, you should be able to just delete it without trashing anything else.0

Sounds strange. Try running a scan disk (right click properties on the disk icon in file explorer/ select tools / error checking check now)
There may be nothing wrong with the file structure but this will at least confirm that.0 -
Yes I agree, but when I try to delete it, it sends the main file to the recycle bin as well.NickMidgley wrote: »If it's just a shortcut, you should be able to just delete it without trashing anything else.0 -
