Any good free newsgroup servers out there?

Until recently my ISP has been providing access to Giganews as part of my subscription, they have now dropped this and told me I have to subscribe separately to Giganews which costs $36 per year for the basic service.

Not impressed with this I'm looking for a cheaper or preferably free, reliable news server that I can access using my preferred news reader (Forte Agent).

I do NOT want to access newsgroups through my browser.

Any advice? Thanks

Text only, access to binaries not essential.

Not sure about free, but you can get a volume based package. e.g. $10 for 25GB from Astraweb will keep you going forever on text groups....

I view usenet groups through Google Groups but it's through their website not a reader, althrough they have rss that could go in a reader
