When does a Guarantee start?

We bought a dishwasher from Curry's. It had A two year guarantee and worked fine until it broke. We dug out the receipt to find it was two years to the day since bought it. Fortunately Curry's didn't care that we bought it at 10am and rang to book an appointment under the guarantee two years and six hours later. So we're OK. Probably.
However, I noticed in the bundle of papers that the dishwasher didn't leave their warehouse until three days after we paid for it. I don't know if it was delivered that day or at a later date. But surely the warranty should run for two years from when you get the appliance? The lady at Curries said it was from when we paid for it. Is that correct?
I hope this doesn't affect us as we just scraped though in time with our phone call, but it would be good to know where the law stands on that one in case they decide to charge us and say it's outside the warranty period.

2 years to the day! that is a stroke of luck!<laugh> I think it's from when you bought it. Technically you could have paid and walked out the door with it.
Obviously you got it delivered for convenience.0 -

But they didn't have one in stock - or we would have put it in the back of the car.I am the Cat who walks alone0 -
I work for a whitegoods manufacturer, if you have paperwork showing a despatch or delivery date, we start the warranty from then. It'll be fine im sure.0
