Hi, ive finally chosen my dress. Its the Darcy dress from Monsoon (tried and failed to post a link) it was £200 down to £60, It feels beautiful on.

We havnt set a date yet but Id seen the dress ages ago before h2b proposed. I left it and looked around Landy etc, but I was looking for something simple, but still georgous. ive tried it on a few times in the house and love it. It will need taken up a bit at the bottom. I was wondering how many others are wearing a Monsoon dress, if theyve had it altered (and how easy was it?).
I was worried that people will think its not 'special' enough. All the dresses at Landy etc are beautiful, but ive always been a bit of a tomboy and just couldnt see myself in any of them. we are planning a Humanist ceremony, hopefully outdoors, so another reason for a more simpler style.

I bought a Monsoon dress originally, a few weeks ago, but decided it really wasn't for me, so bought a Maggie one instead.

    I had this one

Yes thats the one thanks, I do really like it, so I guess thats all that matters. Im just being daft having second thoughts. Not sure if its because it was quite cheap or the fact it just out of Monsoon rather than a bridal shop etc. My sister is getting married end of Sep and her dress is beautiful, with lots of beading, long train and lacing up the back, and it was £700!. I just want to feel comfortable and look great on the day, I dont want to look at the photos etc in the future and think I got the wrong dress.

The dress is gorgeous! A design classic. Just remember -less is more so in the future, when you and your sister are looking at your wedding pics, the classic, elegant design of yours won't have dated.

    i think it looks gorgeous

the most important thing is that you are happy with it, so you really should follow your heart :)
    Married on 5th March 2010
still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:
  • I wore a monsoon dress when I got married back in 2004. I had been everywhere looking for a dress & couldnt find one that I really liked.
I had popped into Monsoon to try find some suitable bridesmaid dresses & there in front of me, was the dress that I had always imagained wearing for my wedding.

I didnt even know that Monsoon did wedding dresses either & the best part was that there was a sale on & I got my dress for £86.50!!!!!!

I had my dressmaker friend alter it slightly for me as I didnt like the zip down the back, so she put in a corset style back for me.

As the dress was so cheap, it meant we could splurge elsewhere on the wedding

    Hi Nic,

I think your dress is beautiful. It is very simple yet elegant and if it suits you and you feel comfortable in it then what more could a girl want?? And the fact that it only cost so little is surely just a plus. No one needs to know. And no one will know it is from Monsoon unless you go telling everyone. And even if they did... I really don't think anyone would go "oh my god the bride only paid so little for her wedding dress and not a huge amount of money that she could have made her wedding more special with or get a better honeymoon or whatever it is that you wish to do...."
And if you feel like it, you can always add a few crystals/beads or something to make it unique.
    Enjoy your planning!!!!

  • It is gorgeous. My dress was only £65 and I absolutely love it there are pics on the December brides thread. Mine isn't a monsoon one, but so long as you are happy with your dress and fell beautiful wearing it that is all that matters. Good luck for your wedding! Tiger xxx
