Losing the Deposit on a car

Silly me, went to look at a car at the weekend and left a £200 deposit. It was advertised as having full service history, which I took at face value and didn't check to make sure. First big mistake. Anyway for various reasons the sale hasn't gone through one of the reasons when inquiring to find out when the cambelt was last changed, they can never sem to get the service book to hand. Makes me think said service history isn't as full as it should be if existing at all. Have I got a case to get my deposit back? Thanks

Is it Private or Trade? Either way, it's false advertising and yes you should be able to get your deposit back.
How you do that though, I couldn't help!!!! However, there are lots of people on here that could probably give you a few pointers!0 -
It is a trading company, thanks0

Surely if the car was described as FSH and it doesn't then it is not as described and you'd be entitled to your deposit back and walk away. Not sure however and what regs it is under.0

If you acted on information given to you by the seller which later proves to be false you are perfectly entitled to your deposit back.0
