TV from Instore

My mum bought a TV from Instore about 3 months ago. Last week it developed a fault and she tried to take it back for repair or refund. They refused to accept it because she doesn't have the original box. Can retailers insist on faulty products being in their original packaging?

    do they still stock the same item ? if so tell them to use the box from a replacement but even if they dont you are under no obligation to return packaging with a faulty item .ring their H/O .
