account in credit, requesting a refund

British gas have hundreds of pounds of my money, about four hundred combined.
I am mentally ill, and cannot use the phone without getting distressed.
Sorry for the stupid questions but:-
What do I do to request a refund?
Is it easy, or will they try and persuade me not to?

With that much owed I should think they will let you have some of it back. It depends on your usage really. It's normal to be in credit in the summer, but that is quite a lot. If you can't use the phone why not send them an online message here: https://www.britishgas.co.uk/Help_Advice/ContactUs/

Include your account number in the query and explain that you would like them to refund whatever they can.

I used the online facility to get my refund and had no problems, think I just provided upto date meter readings for them to process it.

Hello.
Brtish Gas rang me this morning, and said they can refund, it will behalf collectively. Just under a third of the electric and about a third of the gas, roughly. They said they need to keep the rest in for the winter. Will keep an eye on it over the coming months.
