It's funny you should say that as Atlantic have just upped both of my direct debits by exactly the same amount as yours.
Needless to say, in doing so, there's been some sort of administrative glitch their end and they're now taking the new amounts by d/d and then refunding them to my account a week or so later, so I'm not paying anything!
I think the old amounts of forty odd quid were about right when balanced across the whole year. I owe them a hundred and fifty or so at the moment but that's because of the winter. No doubt it will take God knows how many telephone calls to put right.
I've looked at changing suppliers but Uswitch, Energyhelpline, etc. all have different suppliers as being best for me which is confusing to say the least and frankly there's only about twenty quid in it, so I'm not bothering to switch at the moment.0 -
just switched to npower - per martin's link, this site is so cool, have saved loads, gonna pay off balance on atlantic ... also just about to change home insurance and save £250+, have been with direct line for years who have been very good, but AA is megacheap! - well worth checking out the main link0

I thought Atlantic were still competitive
They've been charging 53 for both, I reckon I owe them about 500, so not looking to rush to change;)0 -

We're with Atlantic, do you get the one month dd returned each year? We owed them more than our dd was covering for electricity and gas, so have upped the dd to cover the debt. By doing this, the one month's worth of dd they return at the end of year will be more than this year's.
Hope that makes sense!

Had one DD back after year one, not sure we've had anymore, but from memoory the deal was only year one.
Glad to owe them as much as I can:j0 -

The one months DD refund payment is a rolling deal, so chase them if you have not received your payment.

I switched to Atlantic Electric and Gas for 1 month in January. I decided to switch back to British Gas as they offered me a substantial discount. Anyway, last week I had the bill from Atlantic for the 1 month I was with them and it was £120!!!!!! For 1 month!!!!!! I'm paying £20 per month with BG and they usually have to pay me some back at the end of the year. I cant believe it. £120 would have lasted me 6 months with BG. They are a rip off and I'm glad I changed when I did.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Surely you know exactly how many units of gas and or electricity you consumed during your one month with Atlantic, so you can work out what you own them for yourself.
