Any other places to look for properties?

The only ones I know of are sites such as rightmove or findaproperty, any other websites just seem to have the same properties. Is there any other places I can look for more of a range?

Thanks

It'll depend on where you are in the country, and what price range you're looking in.

Some areas Rightmove dominates, others it doesn't.

If you're looking for country houses or estates, then Savills, Knight Frank etc might be the place to look, since these don't tend to be Rightmove fodder....

mmm beg to differ. My house is up for sale with savills and it is on rightmove. oh! and it isn't an country house or an estate, however I suppose I do live in the country and on an estate but don't think that is what you meant was it?

Find a list of all the agents in your area (yellow pages/Thomson Local) - check they all list on the websites mentioned. Any who don't - look up their own site.

Drive/walk around the areas you wish to live in - some properties are being advertised privately.

How about registering with the agents in the area you are buying in - some properties will not be on all the aggregator websites at all for a while - photos etc. You'll find out first about new properties. Also, not all agents use the aggregators as they have acertain limitations as to what agents can post on them by way of details - 360 degree views, interactive floorplans etc.

I found primelocation has a slightly wider range of agents in my area than rightmove. globrix is also worth a look. this will vary from area to area though.

bear in mind that those kind of sites (a) don't catch all agents (the smaller agents re often not signed up to them) and (b) are not always up to date - meaning in a fast moving market properties can be under offer by the time they make it onto these sites.

realistically the best way to look for properties is to register with all the local agents in the area you're looking - and get at the top of their "hot buyers" list to make sure they send you stuff asap.

Why don't you try the sites which are used by private people - that way you will get a different perspective - gumtree and virtualletz.com have got a range of different properties which you don't get on the usual big boys websites
