You will enjoy Paphos. plenty of restaurants around the harbour
( my favourite , last one heading towards the castle)
I stayed at the Alexander the Great, easy walk to the harbour.
Very nice hotel , but geared towards the older traveller.0 -
Do you want all inclusive, half board or self-catering? Also, what kind of budget? How many people, any kids, etc? The more info, the better!0

Prob self catering not into fighting for sunbeds but dont want to be too isolated - will be taking a 13 and 15 year old - have been told coral bay best place to stay or limasol? Dont want to spend mega bucks but want somewhere nice - thanks :j0

Coral Bay is rather a long way out and I would not stay at Limassol rather than Paphos.0

Coral bay is north of Pathos (about 20 miles if my memory serves me right, but could be 20 km). Pathos beaches are not great & Coral Bay is one of the better ones. Limasol is quite a long way from Pathos, might be an idea if you looked at a map of Cyprus.
If you haven't booked your flights yet & the beach is important to you, then the east side has better beaches.
Cyprus is about the most expensive med holiday.0 -
If you want self catering, I'd recommend looking at sites like Holiday Lettings - loads of Cyprus properties. There are quite a few sites like that, where you book direct with the owner, which saves you paying commission. Holiday Lets is another one that springs to mind, but never used it myself.0

I would advise going to the old town of Paphos. The new town is far too crowded and busy now, the old town isn't quite as crowded but still plenty to do and about a 10 minute walk to the new town. Coral Bay has the nicest beach closest to Paphos but it gets very very busy on that beach for that reason. The other nice beaches on the island are mainly up Ayia Napa and Protarus way on which are a good few hours drive from Paphos. Limasoll is a huge, crowded city, which I personally do not like at all. Although I tend to stay in a small village about 30 mins away from Paphos called !!!!ouri, the old town of Paphos is somewhere I would recommend. I stayed somewhere called the Kissos, however this was about 9 years ago so not sure what it's like now. I didn't get chance to go to the old town of Paphos when I was in Cyprus last year, but went the year before that. Hope this helps?0

Hiya,
We stayed in Paphos last year at The Mayfair, it wasn't really close to a beach but had a few pools which weren't too busy, the food was fab (maybe cos of the Chef - Pambo) - he was brill! Was about a 10/15 min walk to the harbour but had pubs and restaurants nearby.
If in Paphos, I'd suggest going on George's Funbus for a day out, he is hilarious and did a mean barbeque! Have fun!0 -
Hi
Sorry, can't give you any advice on accommodation as we stayed at the St George Hotel in Paphos (well actually it's just outside Paphos near Chlorakas). This doesn't do Self Catering, but there are a couple of self catering apartments quite close too - but not great beaches in this area. Paphos itself doesn't really have great beaches.
Just adding to the other comments about Coral Bay. It's really not that far from Paphos! They have 2 decent beaches, there is one a few hundred yards from the main 'strip' and then there is the beach by The Corallia Hotel & Apartments, it's smaller than the main beach but very nice and you're more likely to get a sunbed! Only issue with this beach is that it is much further down from the main drag of Coral Bay.
Also, the bus service between Paphos and Coral Bay is superb (although it does get crowded at certain times of the day) Pretty much every 15 minutes and it's around 1Euro50cents. It's a flat rate you pay for this route, irrelevant how many stops, you pay the same. It will take about 45 minutes from Paphos to Coral Bay (the Coralia Apartments are the 'end of the line' for the bus, so stay on the bus until the driver switches off the engine to get to the nice beach. Buses 10 and 15 do this route.
We love Cyprus and are going back next year too. Have fun.0 -

It IS far.
Pathos & Coral bay are a good few miles apart, with a quite fast road with not much along most of it.
I'm a Cyprus fan too, but I think the east is much nicer. The beaches a far better & the sea is warmer & calmer.0
