cat not pooing

After 4 days of dire-rear took kitten to the vet on monday and she gave me some pro-kolin for him. He used to litter tray about 11pm last night and hasn't pooed since.
He is eating as normal and isn't trying to poo so assuming its not that he's constipated... am so confused and unsure about wjhat is going on with him.
He is getting a pot-belly from eating and not passing.
Any suggestions?

call your vet in the morning, constipation can be quite dangerous in a kitten...it may be a case that there is nothing to poop out though if he had the squits for a while.

by the way, when a cat is constipated, and it has been straining, they usually throw up within about 10 minutes of straining.

    good luck x

he hasnt been straining at all- either myself or OH has been awake with him all night and day to make sure.
I did think that there might be nothing less but his tummy feels really full

have just been feeding him chicken and scrambled egg- would adding boiled rice help at all?

    Just a bit of info.
    He is 6 weeks old
Had dire-rear so has just been fed plain chicken and scrambled egg and water
    He was wormed last week
He is still playing and eating and drinking
His tummy doesn't feel hard and I can push heavily on it without him scirming (Sp) or mewing
he isn't trying to poo, no straining etc
    Still peeing lots.

he is only six weeks? he should still be weaning and learning from his mum, that's probably why he has a bad stomach. is there any reason why he left his mum at such a young age?

glad he has squeezed out a plop though! :)

You are doing a very good thing by keeping an eye on your kitty's bum habits. My boy Dylan has a thing called Megacolon - it nearly killed him. It's like severe constipation to the point his large intestine is full to bursting and he can't get rid of any of it. It could have killed him.... To cut a long story short I am now getting special medicine over from the States and Dylan's doing well. There's nothing like a big smelly poo in the litter tray to brighten my day now:D:D:D

    I've been Money Tipped!
FWIW, only after a correct diet and cause have been established there is an MSE help for a cat known to only have ''normal'' constipation. I can't stress enough this is ONLY once serious/ongoing conditions re ruled out. (I do it on the advice of my vet). One of my girls has a very slight and very occasionl attack of constipation: if the litter tray doesn't have every thing it should have in it she gets a very small amount of cows milk/cream. Cats do not do well on this..it induces loose bowels. Its cheaper and quicker than the fishy tasting paste she used to be given.

A kitten more thn at anytime would benefit from a truely balanced diet.

The reason he isn't with his mum is that the mum abandoned the litter in a ditch. All the other kittens were killed but this one survived.
The reason I wasn't sure it was constipation is that he wasn't straining to poo as he did when we first got him. He had been at the vets a day earlier with gut problems as well.
Think it was just that having had the runs there wasn't much left lol.
The diet he is on just now is again on vets advice because he had been suffering and we have to build up to kitten food because he obv cant handle it, too rich says vet and we dont know what he was managing to live on in the wild.

"I am an insomniac, so I was really excited when I was able to get a full night's sleep. I said to a friend, 'Just keep your fingers crossed that I get lucky again tonight!' Realizing what I said, I tried to correct it and said, 'No, I mean, I just hope that I get some tonight!' After that, I decided to shut up."

i was missing you on this one spearmint- seems fine. Think I just got used to him going to the bathroom soooo often when he had the runs and now he's only going like once or twice a day.
But yeah he seems dandy- have mixed a bit of dried food in with his chicken today so hopefully that goes well
