I have a TV with a built in DVD player. Its about 1 1/2year old.
With some DVDs it is spinning the dvds then saying no valid disk found then on the ones it does play it stops half way through an wont play anymore.
I have tryed playing the dvd on another dvd player and they work fine so its defo the dvd player.
I've used a dvd cleaner disk but still no good.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong??
thanks

One possibility is that the lubrication for the laser pickup has dried up and created one or more sticky ridges partway along the track (usually just a metal rod) that it slides along.
It's sometimes possible to fix this by dismantling the casework and putting silicon oil or a light silicon grease on the track. However, it can be a very fiddly job depending on the design of the drive, as the upper part of the disc clamp mechanism often covers the parts you need to get at.0 -
fwor has it spot on.... either that or the laser is kaput....
might be worth contacting the firm. however i presume there is no extended warranty on it?
Or if you have accidental damage... *cough*
