Last tap question...promise

OH found this Bristan tap he quite likes.....
http://www.homesupply.co.uk/bristan-quest-monobloc-basin-mixer=QSTBASNWC.htm
...why is it so cheap? Is it rubbish?
The bath/shower mixer is only £106.
We've spent the day looking at taps and (sorry in advance if I offend anyone, I dont mean to)...we were surprised at how thin, lightweight and even plastic-like, the tap heads on some of them seemed, even expensive Crosswater ones.
My old B&Q ones are heavy and solid compared to the supposedly better brands.
Ironically the only make we couldn't see examples of, were Bristan.
I know Bristan is recommended on here regularly but do they have different qualities? The tap in my link just seems very cheap.....so it's either a good deal or a rubbish tap?

The quest is a good solid tap
Go to your local PTS and get them to order
As a tradesman i get 45% off there list prices on bristan, You should be able to get 30-35%!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Thanks andy, I'm so very, very fed up of looking at things now, that I'll go along with his choices are long as they're not rubbish. :undecidedHerman - MP for all!0

We had Bristan Synergy taps which are similar to the Quest. They are, like Andy says, a good solid tap. The builders even moaned that they were very heavy compared to a lot of taps.
We're very pleased with them, no problems whatsoever.0 -
If you like that one you might like Crosswater Komo which is what we have and got from same place see here..only have the basin pillar taps but happy with them and are really good quality..definitely not thin, lightweight or plasticy - far from it!! You would know it if someone dropped it on your toes! Just polished mine today and they are gleaming. Crosswater sent me FOC a couple of aerators rather than the supplied flow straighteners for my mains cold tap (unbalanced supplies) - also sent me brass retaining nuts after i accidentally broke one of the supplied plastic ones (only plastic bit i think!). Anyway happy with them and would buy from them again.

Thanks all.TomsMom...we looked at those ones too, I liked the style of them but it bugged me that they leant forward, I want stand up straight ones. :rotfl:Fickle or what?!
Andy, the Komo taps are very similar in style to the ones on our downstairs cloakroom basin, I do like them but wanted something different to what we have already.
I'm probably going to do eenie meenie miney mo (sp?) this morning, order HAS to be in today no matter what.
Thanks for the feedback on the Bristan tap range. :beer:Herman - MP for all!0 -
Have you checked Ebay? I bought my kitchen tap new from Ebay at half the price I had seen it in the shops and used Quidco.0
-
Yes and it's not any cheaper for anything I want so far. The shower and taps have all been dearer than I've found them elsewhere for.
I did get some new blades for my Fein Multimaster though.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Thanks all.

No, not fickle, we all have our likes and dislikes.
The reason we had those was the shorter projection. This is the first time we've had mixer taps. We've had them on holiday in hotels we've stayed in abroad and OH has always complained that they projected too far forward and got in the way when washing your face. He was adamant that he didn't want this at home and I was adamant that I didn't want separate taps each side of the basin but something more modern. The Synergy was the one with the shortest projection that we found and a good compromise for us. We did see them in the flesh before ordering which was a big help.0 -
Well 'tis done! Order for taps and shower(s) is in. Happy days. I'm going to go bin the brochures so I'm not tempted to change my mind.
I ordered from showerstoyou.com which has been recommended a few times on here. They weren't the cheapest but I phoned them first to see if they'd move on their prices especially with regards to the showers and digital remote...and they did so order went in there and then. Yay!
Bath...done
Showers....done
Taps....done.
Still need to do extractor (want a quiet, good one with chrome bezel, maybe light too? Not sure.)
Lighting (still like downlights but worried about heat in loft/increased condensation so procrastinating a lot over the light choice.
Tiles....can't find anything here I like/can afford so we're going to visit SIL this weekend and go round the big tile places beside her.
Getting Utopia units but can't decide on worktop.
Another 6 months should do it. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0
