If we already have a guitar (from rock hero 3), is it possible to still play the rock band game if I buy the drums, mic and software separately, instead of buying the whole set?

As far as i know the guitar hero 3 guitar will work on Rock Band.......What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0
