What to do with MP3 zip file?

Can anyone advise what to do with an MP3 zip file? It was sent to me by someone, it plays on windows media player on a friend's computer but not on my own. I wanted to get it onto ITunes so i could sync it to my IPod but it doesn't seem to go onto ITunes......

any reason for this? I've got a feeling MP3 isn't compatible with apple or something but i don't understand the science behind it.

Anyway i could get this info onto my IPod? Also i'd like to send it via email to a friend.....wouldn't know how to begin.....

thanks for anyone in the know who can help :T

Double click on the zip file to unzip it.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:
  • I've tried that though Expresso.....not working

My system keeps trying to open it with ITunes, but then there's nothing on ITunes. I've tried windows media player but can't find it on there either....

think i need some other software to open it?

you'd unzip ordinary zip files with winzip or winrar, you can get free/trial versions of these. Dunno whether a mp3zip is the same. Some ISPs convert all attachments to zip files when they are sent as attachments to an email

what version of Windows are you running?

You cant play the file while it is still zipped. You need no either double click the zip file and extract it to somewhere (you can just drag it onto the desktop) or download Winzip (which will do the same thing, a similar thing is integrated into windows but I cant remember eaxctly when they started doing this hence asking what version you have)

Failing that PM me your email address and I'll do it for you.

After the file is unzipped you should be able to use the 'add file to library' function on itunes and sync it to your ipod.

    Download 7zip http://www.7-zip.org/ and install.

Then right click on you zip file and press Extract!!

then open iTunes and drag the extracted mp3 file into the Music screen

The first version of Windows to have this feature was Windows XP; all you have to do is right-click the file and select "Extract all..."

Alternatively, you can use one of the many file archiving utilities available. Of those already mentioned, only 7-zip is truly free to use but if all you want to do is open compressed archives rather than create your own you don't even need that; something like Universal Extractor would do just as well.

If you double-cick the file, does it open a folder containing some .MP3 files?
If so, run iTunes, and drag&drop the .MP3 files from the folder into iTunes.

Before you do that, make sure iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library" first.
