Can't login to a bank site

All day I have been unable to login to a banking site I use even though I know I am using the correct details. In my mail there is a message from them saying they have sent a secure message etc., but of course I can't access it.
Yesterday I did some tidying up, uninstalled a programme and removed my history cache. Could I have done something to affect my ability to login to the bank site?

Yes it was. I have just had a long conversation with them and fortunately I first found an 0800 number. A couple of weeks ago I opened a second account to take advantage of their 3.25% rate. I have been depositing funds there ever since. Today they say their system could not recognise me because I opened a new A/c. As they say Go Figure. They had no problem accepting the money! They now say it will take a couple of days to sort it out.0
