Hi Guys,

We go to Krakow on Monday!

I have picked up a few links for various publications and things and will be taking my netbook for internet!

We will defo be doing Auschwitz.....but I wandered if anyone could recommend some cracking restaurents/bars??

Maybe a decent Steak restaurent would be good?

Or any other info would be great!

When we were in Krakow we ate at the Sioux Steakhouse on the main square and it was fantastic, great atmosphere and very resonable prices.

Also try the Arlekin cocktail/cafe bar also on the main square as they sell the most delicious ice creams and cakes.

    As I've posted here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=24467423&postcount=8

Plus one of the best restaurants since ever "Wierzynek". On their website you can find even sample prices http://www.wierzynek.com.pl/index.php

You might find this very good guide http://ksiegarnia.pascal.pl/ksiazka.php?id=1482 in bookshops in Krakow and also this beautiful album: http://merlin.pl/The-Royal-Cracow_Adam-Bujak/browse/product/1,458966.html#fullinfo

We were there about a month ago - a brilliant city.

Look at trip advisor, but restaurant "Aperitif" was stunning. Take one of the little golf buggy tours from the market square ( Do negotiate - they will barter!) These will take you around the main points, including the Jewish quarter, the site of the ghetto and Schindlers factory. This is being revamped at the moment, so there isn't much to see but you can go inside.

When you go to Auschwitz, take the bus from just behind the train station- it's all clearly marked and the ticket clerks understand english. Once you get to the camps, remember that you are not allowed to eat or drink inside the museum, and the tours are fairly long.....

    Have a great time.

Sioux is well known as being microwave food. Likewise with Sphinx.

As a general rule, don't eat in the main square. You'll pay twice (or even more!) the price for half the quality.

Can't remember where we ate (& I've lent my books to someone at work  ) but we just wandered & had a great time.

We took an early morning fast train to Auschwitz and were there before the tours started. A tour may have had more info but going round ourselves was good as well - no timetables.

And a visit to the Salt Mines is worth it. We took a local minibus there and had a good day out (you walk down the mine but get a lift back up).

    Enjoy

Well it definetly wasnt microwaved when we got it as we watched the food being cooked on a cooking station close to where we were sat.

Christ, save your money and go elsewhere! Sioux is utterly dire and Wierzynek is a complete and utter tourist ripoff!
