Hi
parents have sky+ downstairs and I have just been added to their subscription on the mulitroom...however we decided to go for the normal sky box for my room as sky wanted £49 instead of the £249 for the sky+ box! However what im wondering is there anything to stop me buying a sky+ box off ebay and replacing my normal sky box???
Regards

sky + requires two inputs from the dish, so you would need to run two cables to the dish. sky should have put a quad LNB on the dish.
part of your sky + subscription includes the signal to pause live tv, this is free if you take a premium package out but if you dont then you have to pay £10 a month for the privilege.
So you could possibly do what you are thinking but it is not as easy as you may think.
Good Luck.

I did exactly what you are thinking of doing.
I had sky+ installed downstairs and the old sky box installed in my sons bedroom for an extra £10 subscription. I subsequently purchased a second sky+ box for my sons bedroom. When the original sky+ system was installed a quad LNB was fitted to my dish. This mean't two LNB outputs to the original sky+ and one to the extra box, leaving a spare output . All we did was to add an extra cable from the spare LNB output to my sons bedroom thus giving him the two inputs required. The second SKY+ was set-up via the phone by Sky to allow recording. No problems. Everyone happy0 -
