Carpet Stain Removal - Nail Varnish!

Hi
Whilst moving some stuff about dusting the top of the mantlepiece recently, the O/H managed to knock a virtually full bottle of nail varnish off. It smashed against the hearth and has basically put a lovely big pink stain all over the off-white carpet
Thankfully we got a lot of it up before it dried in, however there is still a faint pink mark which won't come out. It's about 6 inches long
We have one of those carpet shampooer things and that has helped lift the stain out. Also the Vanish Wow-look-New-Improved Oxy-Action mousse stuff has been pretty handy. However after several re-applications, I can't see either of these solutions restoring the carpet completely to its former glory.
Tried nail varnish remover but that has had limited effect.
Any ideas?
