Shower leaked and ceiling now cracked

My shower is over the bath and the sealant has been looking a bit grotty for a while.
Recently a dark patch appeared on the living room ceiling and then water strted dripping through when we used the shower.
I bought some of that sticky sealant tape and it was ok for a while but every now and then it starts to leak.
I am insured but have a £150 excess.
Part of the ceiling is cracked.
Is it worth getting a plasterer to patch it up if that is possible and get the ceiling repainted or will it cost me just as much as the excess.
I am no DIYer as you have probably gathered.

A bit pointless repairing the ceiling if the sealant is still leaking...
Can't see your insurance paying for the damage as it's wear and tear, it's only leaked because you didn't maintain the sealant. It's not the scenario of a burst pipe. Now you've got water damage in the plasterboard, so it would either have to be skimmed or cut out and replaced. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
