Hi,
I would like to ask if I there is any way I could do something with my laptop.
I've had a laptop samsung P28 for about 6 years. Unfortunately it does not show anything on the screen anymore but once you turn it on it seems that is working - the lights are on (charging the baterry and the other one to show that is working).
Tried to take the batery out for minutes, tried to take the HDD out as well. Just a few times it did show the "starting" but within few seconds it was freezing the whole image.
Any thoughts???
I went down to the shop to get everything backed up on the external HDD...lucky me as they extracted everything as I have never backed up anything:mad:
Any advices please???
I would not like to go down to repair it as I would better get a new one for the money... or shall I stick it in the bin

6 years is a long time for a laptop
I bin it myself rather than get a new screen0 -
Nah, as above 6 years is a good age for a laptop, time to buy a nice shiney new one0

You probably could fix it, but like you say, you could just as easily (and for the same money) get a great new one.
Out with the old, in with the new! (And don't forget to head over to the Tech Discussion section to find out where the best deals are)Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
if you are not keen on binning it and you obviously have access to a computer now, you could try down loading a copy of umbuntu linux live cd- just google it and down load and burn off a copy. this then can be put into your laptop and it should boot up if there is nothing wrong with laptop apart from an os failiure of windows. if this works you can continue using laptop for what ever you need. or give it to charity !!!0

Not much good if your screen has gone " Unfortunately it does not show anything on the screen anymore"
Although you may be able to use tv out assuming you have a spare monitorif you are not keen on binning it and you obviously have access to a computer now, you could try down loading a copy of umbuntu linux live cd- just google it and down load and burn off a copy. this then can be put into your laptop and it should boot up if there is nothing wrong with laptop apart from an os failiure of windows. if this works you can continue using laptop for what ever you need. or give it to charity !!!0 -
