Is Priscilla Queen of the Desert unsuitable for children?

I have the opportunity for some tickets to see Priscilla at the West End. Could anyone who has seen it, advise if it is unsuitable for children. I have seen different reivews saying over 12s only or suitable for 15+.
Thanks for any help

Havent seen the stage show but the theme is drag queens and gay sexuality so I suppose thats a personal decision there suitability wise. HTH and hope you get a reply from someone who has been.

Perhaps have a word with the Stage door or box office peeps on the phone who should be able to tell you if theres nudity or swearing etc,

Also according to what Jason Donovan said on This Morning they do include the ping pong ball incident as seen in the film...

Just found this on their own website FAQs.. HTH

Is the show suitable for children?

Due to some occasional coarse language and adult themes, we usually recommend that children under 15 years be supervised. Having said that, many children did see Priscilla downunder and were entranced by the colour and spectacle in the show along with, of course, the fabulous singing and dancing.

    Youtube has clips also.

There are lots of sex references.
    There is some violence.
There is lots of coarse language (but no worse than billy elliot - which imo has the worst language of any show I've seen).

Its also very much an adult show, and yes kids may enjoy the song and dance and the fantabulous costumes but its not a story thats going to engage youngsters.
  • I saw priscilla a few weeks ago.....i dont think it would be too bad for kids over 12....there's some great music which they should enjoy and the costumes also. As previously mentioned...the ping pong scene is not graphic at all no lady nudity within this scene. Plenty of swearing but not OTT, plus i don't think many younger kids would understand anyway!

There were some kids in the audience when I went which I was quite shocked by (some looked under 10!).

It is seriously camp. One of the main characters comes on surrounded by blokes and they're all in leather gear with their butts out if I remember rightly. Me and my mum loved it. :D

I can see teenage boys being pretty embarrassed. Teenage girls would probably love it. There were a distinct lack of men in the audience.
