Fibs by Npower
I was in town the other week when I got stopped by someone from an NPower sales team. I was told that if they were doing a one off deal, i.e. something not available online. If you signed up you'd get £100 in the form of a giro cheque as long as you stayed with them for a year (£200 if you DD'd both gas and electric). On comparing with eon, my current supplier, they said that even though the electricity was slightly dearer per unit, the fact that the standing charge on the pre-payment meter was over £2 less a week, and that NPower had the cheapest gas on the market, would mean I'd be better off. I was also told that comparison sites didn't give a true price, because if you switched through them, they'd take their cut.
Turns out I got told a load of old tosh. Even when I gave a verification code over the sales woman's phone, I repeated what I'd been told - and was told that yes, I'd get the £100 in giro form etc.
I found out that I'd actually be worse off, despite the £100 and that the £100 would be in payment to my account. It definitey wouldn't be in the form of a giro cheque.
I'm really annoyed, having wasted my time, and that people without access to the net might fall for their codswallop.

There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Hello Lip_Stick
I'm an npower company representative and I'm really sorry (and concerned) to hear about your experience with one of our salespeople. You are indeed correct - the information the salesperson told you is inaccurate as we offer the £100 discount if you pay by monthly direct debit and take both fuels from us.
If you private message me with the date, time and place where you were stopped by the representative, I can investigate and come back to you.
Best wishes,
Sally at npower

I cant see the diff how you get the £100 as long as you get it, but been honest Im sure their calls are recorded and so can easy play it back. Not known people get £100 from a supplier on a pre-pay0
