Any advice?
Not without more information - what are you querying?0 -
Tha payslips should show on your payslip with your taxes. They student loan payments will be an additional line. It sounds like you need to contact SLC to give them your current employers information. You will need the PAYE reference from your payslip/P60 or payroll department.0

Hi i'm hoping that some one can advise me of what to do over a student loan matter. I took out student loans over 1997-2000. Apparantly any loans taken out during this period have to be automatically repaid unless you apply for deferment. As a result of severe illness over the past few years resulting in me being disabled i have obviously had other things on my mind! All correspondance they have sent me has been sent to my previous address which unfortunately wasn't forwarded on. I have now this morning received a letter saying that my student loan has been forwarded on to a debt collections agency and they are requesting the arrears of £6449.80 is payed immediately other wise they are going to take me to court. Please could someone advise me of how i stand and what to do regarding this matter as i am on benefits and am unable to pay this ammount!! thanks0

You'll need to negotiate payments with the company as arrears and charges aren't able to be deferred in the way in which the Student Loan is.
When did you last defer?0 -
I finished in 2009 from 2006. I take it I will not hear anything until the following April 2010?
If I don't get a letter in April then I will send a letter just to be on the safe side with an update of address and salary/or unemployment.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Hi
My wife has a student loan originating in 2001. Since graduating in 2004 she has a had a couple of jobs, taken some time off and also done a Masters (not in that order). In one of her early jobs, repayments were taken automatically but in her current job, no repayments are being made. We have no other debt. Should she contact the SLC and start repayments or not worry about it and let them contact her (if they ever do)?
Many thanks for your help.0 -

It would be best to call SLC with the update of your address as they may need to write to you if the HMRC don't automatically match your tax record with your SLC record.
If this happens SLC will send out a form automatically asking for the employment details. This will not happen till April 2010 as you will be not expecting to enter repayment till the April after you graduate.0 -

Since she was working and them stopped SLC may have lost track of were she is in system. If she is earning over £15000 per annum gross or £1250 per month gross it would be best to contact SLC will all the employers details especially PAYE reference number.0 -
I am currently living in Japan and as I am wanting to return to the UK to study for my P.G.C.E. I thought it would be wise to get in touch with the SLC to inquire about paying off my loans as I thought I qualified for a loan for my graduate studies. They asked me to fill in an assessment form and I just received a letter telling me that my default repayment is going to be £196 a month. I have credit card and overdraft debts that I am quite anxious to get paid off first, can I defer my repayments and if I ignore the letter will I be penalised by the SLC? Also can they automatically take payments from my account without my consent?
It also turns out that because I have been out of the country for more than 3 months in the last 3 years that I am not eligible to receive a loan for my graduate studies, so what would be my best course of action?
Any help would be really appreciated!!
