Can I get refund on debit card because of Pitch TV going bust?

Hi
I would like some advice and help on the following matter.
I bought a steam cleaner from Pitch TV (Pitchwell) and I wasn't happy with it, so I contacted them about it and they arranged for it to be picked up for a refund, but in the meantime, they have gone bust!
I paid for the steam cleaner with a maestro debit card and from what I am hearing from my bank is that I can't claim for a refund, but when I phoned the Pitch helpline they said I should be able to get a refund. But I don't know if they are just saying that to get me off the phone.
Does anyone know where I stand and what to do?
Thanks for any help.

This may be a little help. It only mentions credit cards, but it does also say they'll be contacting people to sort it.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
