Hi
We are a fairly new online mental wellbeing community, we are still on a steep learning curve at the moment and would much appreciate any support or information as to any regulations concerning the posting of our website on the forums, I have read through some regulations on here, but didn't fully understand them to be honest :embarasse. (sorry)
Our website does include a fundraising section, but we do not force users to make any donations, donations are entirely at the users discression.
We are not a charity as yet, but we are aiming for charity status, we are an affiliated organisation of a local charity and do have our written constitution. I have not posted our link as yet, as I am wondering about permissions to post the link.
Any help and information will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks :hello:

Welcome
To put it simply, you won't be able to post your link yet because you are a new user. When you've got a few posts to your name it will be OK.
However, we only have links to registered charities on this board, because of the difficulties of checking out the legitimacy of organisations which aren't registered charities.
Does make it clearer?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I think it's clearer :embarasse , am I right to think we can not post our link, and will not be allowed to post our link because we are not a registered charity, even if we are an affiliated organisation of a registered charity.
Am I also correct in thinking, or that I have been informed, that you now have to raise £5000 in your community bank account before you can apply to be a registered charity.
Many thanks.0 -
Well, if you are affiliated to a registered charity, you could put their link (once you can post links).
I think you're right about the income thing. Those of us who've been working in the charity sector for some time would wonder whether starting another new charity is the best way to go, so do take advice on that. There are legal requirements and you need good trustees to make the most of it! Working with a larger charity might be the way to go.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I agree with Sue. Starting a charity is a big undertaking, especially if you are a self help group. Speak to the main charity and see if you can become a project of them.
You dont have to have £5000 in your bank account before you can apply for charitable status, but you do need to have had income of £5k (even though some of it might have been spent.)£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0
