proof of posting and missing parcel

I always get proof of posting and usually use recorded delivery. Just once the recorded wasn't used and you can guess the rest- the item didn't arrive.
But having learned from all my previous claims from which I only received a book of stamps I had all the receipts etc for the box bubblewrap the item itself and also the proof of posting receipt. So I photocopied the lot filled in theform and posted it off. Now another book of stamps has arrived as compensation. The phone number is impossible as I don't get through to speak to a real person so what do I do? Any advice would be helpful as I feel I had a genuine claim and all the receipts etc.

I'm pretty sure all you're entitled to for lost 'recorded delivery' items is 100 first class stamps, that is probably why

Standard mail which includes recorded and parcels has a compensation limit of £39.
OP, persevere with the telephone number, I find I can usually get to talk to someone at around 7.15am and be polite but firm that you have not received the compensation to which you are due.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Couldn't quite make out if you were agreeing or disagreeing there lol. The figure of £39 is the cost of 100 first class stamps. Each time the price of the stamps increases, so does the max compensation accordingly.
Not having claimed before, when the OP said they'd received stamps in response to their claim, I thought perhaps they literally send out the 100 stamps to you? I have prob got the wrong end of the stick though!0 -
For a successful claim they send out a cheque to the value of the item plus actual postage paid, for general moans (and i have a few of them!) or very small claims they just send a book of stamps. However since a book of 1st class stamps , assuming it has ten in there, is £3.90 this often covers the claim anyway.
In this case though I am guessing that the value of the stamps was less than the item cost claimed, maybe the OP could confirm?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes was sent a book of 10 first class stamps nothing like the value of the lost item. But my claim was for less than £39 which is what the proof of posting is supposed to cover. So I have sent the letter back with another copy of the proof of posting and their 10 first class stamps and asked for a full refund.
There is no point getting a proof of posting if they don't accept all the receipts etc to prove the value of the item they lost.So will wait and see what happens now.
