BT offer free weekend and evening calls

Had a phone call from BT yesterday and was informed that after reviewing my account they would like to offer me free weekend and evening calls. The catch being I would have to sign up for a further 12 months contract.
Is it possible that my telephone exchange is about to be unbundled and cheaper options will become available to me? I did some research on Sam Knows and that says that it was due to be switched to 21CN in the 2nd quarter of 2009. But as of yet we have no switchover.
Is anything occuring?

No, that's been on offer for ages now (you already have 'free' weekend UK 01, 02, 03, 0845 & 0870 calls of up to 60 minutes each anyway under the terms of the Unlimited Weekend Plan).
The 'renewable contract' you were offered has annoyed some people mainly because BT is supposed to write to those on the contract about 4 weeks before the term is up to enquire whether they want to continue on it but, it appears, they have been forgetting to do so with some.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
