Probably go bright red when talking to them about it:rolleyes:0 -
I also suffer with severe blushing, I have social anxiety and avoid going out has I find it so embarrassing I would be interesting in finding out about what therapy etc is available that will work or help?
thanks
My DH had CBT for his social anxiety, it helped a bit, he didn't blush though it was more stammering. He still struggles in certain situations, but he managed to say his wedding vows infront of 30 odd people and even made a short speech0 -
I used to suffer from blushing so much that it was really ruining my life, so I know exactly how you feel. One day when I dropped the kids off at school my DD's best mates dad walked over to ask if my DD could go for tea, well I went bright red, he assumed I fancied him or something, I was so embarrased and so was he!
If people stopped to talk to me in the street I went bright red, so I wouldnt stop I just said Hi, and kept walking.
I got pretty lonely actually, untill one day I got up the courage to go to the doctors to see if they could help, I got a crap doctor who couldn't really be interested, so I left feeling even worse, BUT she did say one thing that I found interesting "Do you have any other symptoms of anxiety?"
So I went and got a book, and read all about anxiety, and I realised blushing is just an anxiety response.
So back off the the doctor, a different doctor I explained everything again and he was fantastic he gave me some propanalol, these changed my life completely.
I took one in a morning and one in the afternoon they controll the amount of adrenalin your body releases so I dont blush.
Now I take them very occasionally if I have a stressfull day, but I hardly ever need them. Do go and see your doctor, they can definately help x£100 - £10,0000 -

Ive just bought the book 'Coping with blushing' via Amazon so will wait and see how I get on with that, then its a visit to the GP and hopefully no more (or less) blushing:D0 -
Sorry to hear you are suffering with this.
I trained as a hypnotherapist a while ago, and generally most things should be treatable with one session, provided that they do the pre-session interview throroughly and get all the triggers clear. What makes you blush, what situation, what are you feeling, when did you start blushing.
Then for you I would probably recommend that you instill a "when I am feeling XXX.... I will press my fingers together (or whatever ) and feels calm and the blood will flow away fro my face" etc etc.
Also you may find it interesting that it is not recommended to try to completely stop people blushing as it can be a useful physiological response. So you really want someone who will concentrate on inappropriate response causing blushing.
£60 is high for a first session
I suppose it depends where you are geographically located. in Yorkshire it is approx £40.
Other technique you might want to try is Noseitherapy. Not really hypnosis, but kind of similar. You do it to yourself. It is based on using breathing and saliva to control the fight or flight response which would seem to be applicable to your situation.0 -

Can you provide more details of Noseitherapy please.
I can PM you if that is easier for you.0 -
Sorry a mistype on my behalf
Noesitherapy was developed in spain by Dr Angel Escudero primarily as a pain control technique. However it has subsequently been used to treat other conditions
The technique first came to the attention of the British public in May 1991 when the BBC screened a series of documentaries called Your Life In Their Hands. One episode dealt with Dr. Angel Escudero of Valencia, Spain, who had carried out hundreds of orthopaedic operations without the need for local or general anaesthetics. Instead his patients learned to make part of their body pain-free through the power of their subconscious mind using a technique devised by Dr. Escudero- see link below for video

It is a system of regular deep breathing and filling your mouth with salavia, followed by repeatedly telling yourself the desired effect then swallowing.

It is kind of weird but some people swear by it.0
