Hi I used my daily star lidll voucher on Sunday no problem in Glasgow I did have a problem in the past and got in touch with customer service as it is a conditional spend voucher from a competitor and I was sent a £10 gift card for my trouble. You should contact C.S. and the branch manager will get his a**e kicked. shrewdalx

OMG I didn't know the Daily Star was doing Lidl vouchers, when did that start, or are they old ones?

I phoned up customer services and they wouldn't refund me my voucher but said they should accept them and if they don't get them to phone headoffice. I have also written to them so am hoping they wll give me a giftcard for the value I lost out on.

I went and asked the manager in my local tesco before doing my shopping yesterday he said that they had direction from head office saying that lidl vouchers could not be accepted. I said I thought they would take competitors coupons he said only from stores that they considered to be competitors such as sainsburys or asda - so I walked out and went to lidl

    Maybe a bit.

I have been listing it in post #2

    <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

    DAILY STAR

    ** MOC ALERT ** MOC ALERT **

FREE - £20 OFF Your Shopping at LIDL - FOR THE NEXT 4 DAYS - £5 OFF when you spend £30
Valid until Monday 31st August - These are CONDITIONAL SPEND coupons - AND CAN be used at TESCO !!!

    <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

It started last Saturday and was £35 - for the next 7 days - £5 off WYS £30

Yesterday £25 (next 5 days) - tomorrow will be £15 etc.

The only thing that should have been avoided if you were after these vouchers was buying the "expensive" weekend editions and just gone for the cheap Mon - Fri papers.

MORE MISLEADING is the "TWO PAPERS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE"

It WAS TRUE when BOTH the coupon inside for the Express was 20p AND the Star cost 20p.

(.. and BOTH 40p on Saturday, 90p on Sunday)

Now the coupon is just 15p and the Star has gone up to 25p.

And Saturday's coupon is down to 30p

Just spoke to the Dundee number, and was told that it is up to the managers discretion so although the policy is they accept them, the actual store manager is the one who makes the decision. I challenged him on this as to the inconsistency of the stores policy and how this effectively becomes a postcode lottery whereby one store accepts and 2 miles down the road another doesn't and he said it isn't and that the policy is they accept them. So basically, I haven't got anywhere at all- in fact I am now infuriated by their inconsistent policies.

I would either phone again (don't mention the first conversation) or email them, or write in.

The Call Centre at Dundee employs hundreds of staff and it's a bit of a lottery who you get answering your query first time. I have accidentally on purpose got cut off before now when some stoopid kid told me what I knew was a wrong answer about the DTD policy at Tesco.

I just redialled and got someone with a brain second time around!

Funny how other Tesco stores have had the exact opposite direction...

IMHO, Duty Managers will say whatever they want to fob you off (I'm willing to bet you didn't get the Store Manager, they rarely come to the CS desk). There will have been no such 'direction from HO'.

But well done for spending it at Lidl - who clearly are a competitor!
