downloaded vlc. Can't play you tube videos. Do I have to set to default or something? You tube says I need to install Adobe flashplayer. Don't want to use this if I can help it as I had trouble downloading it on another pc so I use Windows Media Player on that machine.

if you want to play streaming video from youtube, you'll need flash. It makes no difference what standalone players you have installed. If you were to use a tool to download the youtube files from youtube to your machine, then you would be able to play the local copies in vlc (.flv files)

You need to download and install Adobe Flash Player, as that's the format Youtube uses to stream the video in your browser. I don't think there is an alternative in the same vein as Quicktime or Realplayer Alternative, so you're restricted to Adobe Flash.

The problems with version 10 seem to have been rectified, I've certainly not experienced any problems with either of the machines I have it installed on.
