Is there a way to stop my PC going mad if I am away for more than an hour? Other than turning my pc off each time I leave the room how can I stop it turning itself off and deciding to delete all of today's History?! I remember leaving my pc on while I was out for 2 hours and when I returned it was still on so I am stumped:o:confused:

Going mad?
Sound's to me like it's going into standby.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

have you looked at your power settings? it may be configured to go to standby after a certain period of inactivity0

Standby mode can be such a buggy "feature" sometimes. It should come out of standby with a press of any button or key, but sometimes it doesn't want to and if you've got USB mouse/keyboard then it won't come out of standby at all (because standby turns off the external USB ports).
Ensuring it's turned off would be my highest priority.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Computers don't decide to do anything.
If it is doing the above then it is being told to do it (by a couple of settings on your system). You just have to tell it to do something elseMarching On Together

Turn of the power settings. under display properties, screensaver tab, bottom right POWER button,
power options properties / power schemes change the system standby to NEVER,
same window, hibernate tab remove the tick from enable hibernation. click APPLY.
now for the history, which history, Internet explorer history, run Internet explorer. click TOOLS / internet options, Gerneral tab, at the bottom, Days to keep pages in history 0 would delete the same day, so choose a high number, click apply.
advanced tab, settings / scroll down and remove tick from Empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed.click apply.
Windows History, erm, not done by windows automatically, do you have CCleaner installed??0 -
If your shutting it down without a proper shutdown then the history dat file won't be saved, hence lost history.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
