Had a quote for total bathroom refurb as follows
Removal of existing tiles(just in shower area)
Removal of existing suite.
Fit new suite, electric shower, fit downlights, fit wet board panels to ceiling and walls, tile bathroom floor.
Walls are 17m2
Ceiling 3.5m2
Floor 2.5m2
Quote is for £1800 labour only.
Could anyone also advise how long you think this job would take roughly as I think this guy is maybe going to be taking too long as he reckons 10-15 days.
Thanks

Over the years, I have had many things done by various tradesmen to my house (I picked up a paint brush once and quickly realised DIY wasn't for me!!)
Fences erected, lawn turfed, shed built, garden pebbled, house painted, boiler fitted, caprets laid, wall / floor tiling done in both kitchen and bathroom, shower fitted etc etc.
Without exception, there has been one trait that was common between all of them.
The amount of time taken to complete a job has always been actually done in about half the time orginally quoted.
The quickest turn around was the new condensing boiler I had done a couple years ago. I was told it would take a minimum 2 days, maybe 3.
Start to finish, they did the entire job in less than 6 hours!!!
So while I am no expert in the actual trades, I have developed a good instinct about how long something should take.
So in answer to your orginal question, 10 - 15 days does seem excessive. 5 - 7 would seem, in my opinon, more reasonable.0 -
