What difference does it make if people choose to just visit one part of the forum. I visit very few other boards and am happy with that. If I feel like venturing to other boards, I do but if I choose to stay on this one then that is my choice. I don't feel I'm missing out - if I want to know about something outside this board I have the intelligence to know where to find it, whether it is within the MSE forum or outside.

Tru - why does it 'drive you mad' if people don't visit other parts of the forum - I personally don't think I'm missing out on anything!

this is going along the same lines as the 'congratulating' thread last week. why are people so bothered about if other people are missing out etc?

you can take a horse to water and all that but theres no point getting your knickers in a twist if it won't drink.

i visit the other parts of the forum, just don;t choose to post there. no big deal.

There's nothing wrong with sticking to one part of the forum, but if someone wants advice on a completely different topic, they really should go to the relevant board. People are missing out on tons of info when they refuse to leave 'their' board.

When I first came to MSE, it was a lot quieter and everything was easy to find. It's really busy now, and people naturally gravitate towards people who they feel they have a lot in common with. When they (not all, just some) want advice on something that's completely off-topic, another poster will post a link to the relevant board and then the OP moans that they don't want to leave their 'safe' board. Or they complain that the thread has been moved.

Eg. I'm good at the OS stuff (even if I do say so myself, lol), and I mostly 'live' on there. But I'm also interested in business, I wouldn't dream of asking about business issues on the OS board. It doesn't belong there, it gets in the way of OS topics and I feel perfectly at home posting on the biz board, even though I don't post much on there.

I'm really wound up now. The more I read on the Bankruptcy board, the more I realise how people feel pushed out of other boards.

Everyone's intelligent enough to know where to post, they just don't like it when they have to move from their safe place.

MicheH, I'm really sorry for highjacking your thread :o I'm going to make it my mission (as and when I see judgemenal posts on other boards) to point out to people that this is as much a part of MSE as the other boards and how very dare they

    I know I know I know, you're right :)

I can't help it, if I see someone being treated unfairly, I see red mist.

If someone can't buy food for the next few days for their kids because they've missed out on something from another board then I'm like :(

I just want people to take advantage of the whole site and not be judged for the reasons they need to moneysave in the first place.

is it really any wonder though that people prefer to stay on one particular section of the boards? I take it you've never seen the anti-bankrupt posts that seem to pop up once a month or so? i've seen & replied to the most judgemental crap i've ever read in my life *bankrupts are lowlife...we've cheated the system..we dont deserve a life..etc etc**..sure the board is to give everyone a chance to have their say but some can just be plain plain nasty....i've known many good freinds here leave MSE because of posts like that along with abusive PM's

omg your posts are going to give me nightmares!

Just imagine if I see someone I know at the court? I will probably turn and walk out crying in shame.

This has got me really nervous now...

I saw 2 people I knew when I was at court. They were probably shocked to see me there as well and thought they would see no one they knew when they were going about their buisness :D

Yes that's what I'm trying to say :o I want the judgements and nastiness to stop. I don't think I can do it by myself but I'll give it a damn good go. No-one should feel that they can't visit other boards because they're scary.

I've seen the threads, that's why I'm angry. There are a few people I'd like to shoot :D

YM, I will only eat sprouts that I've grown myself. Shop bought ones are rubbish :D
