I'm a little stunned

Hands up here, I've been nosey
it's in my nature.
I did a search on London Gazzette for bankrupts from my home village. I cannot tell you the disbelief of finding so many people on there from over the years who I went to school with, 3 of them in my class!
I'm feeling bad that i've stooped so low and have found out and i'm stunned that so many of my school friends have done this already. OMG, is bankruptcy more common than I thought. I really struggled to come to the decision I came to and truely felt that I was one of a few that had to do it. I've read the headlines and yes br is on the up at the minute but my god, many of my friends? I just don't know what to feel really

Welcome to the club MH. It's natural to be curious when going through something so daunting. Weirdly reassuring to see in black and white (albeit on the net) that 'you are not alone' - OMG almost broke into song there ala Michael Jackson!!!2019 MFW No. 74 £13700/£30000 (45.66%)

Wait untill you go to court. There's plenty of people in the waiting room going through the same process as you.Look on the notice board as well.Name after name on that that list was for the same issue.I couldn't believe how many people go down this route every day.It certainly makes you feel better that your not the only one.0

omg your posts are going to give me nightmares!
Just imagine if I see someone I know at the court? I will probably turn and walk out crying in shame.
This has got me really nervous now...There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
Aw, D! It will be fine. There was no one in the court house when we were there hun.0

... I'm feeling bad that i've stooped so low ...
Oy! Excuse me Missus! You have not "stooped so low"!
You'll find that one of the most common misconceptions the Boring Folk have about we Bankrupt Folk is that we're all bad with managing money. In reality I'd pit an ex-bankrupt against someone who's never been bankrupt any day for efficiency.
A lot of smug people who have really tidy, neat, unstretched finances only have them so because they lack imagination and derring-do. They've never tried or been tested by circumstances so of course they've never "failed". They've never tried!
You've not stopped low m'dear, in Top Gun terms you have pushed the financial envelope.
Get it right and people hail you as an entrepreneur and a guru, get it wrong and you are bankrupt.
Head up high please. No sniffles. You have interesting and stretched finances...At the end of every rainbow is a smug meteorologist with a large prism.0 -
That's exactly the type of comment that splits MSE right down the middle :sad:FinancesOfAFiveYearOld wrote: »You'll find that one of the most common misconceptions the Boring Folk have about we Bankrupt Folk is that we're all bad with managing money. We're in debt, so our finances HAVE been very untidy and very, very stretched. Because we didn't go bankrupt (and we could have, we had over £25,000 worth of debt), does that make me smug?
I wish people would realise that this is a board that's part of a forum, not a forum on it's own. We're all MSE-ers for one reason or another.Bulletproof0 -

No, of course it doesn't and - if you care to read rather than pontificate* - you'll notice that I didn't suggest that the relationship worked that way.
* I am, however, saying that you pontificate!
Not all people who haven't gone bankrupt are smug, not all people who aren't smug have gone bankrupt. READ!

1., do not refer to me as "people".
2., I do.
3., I don't see the relevance - and, moreover, I don't want it explained by you.
p.s., good morning to you too.
p.p.s. OP - I think what "tru" was trying to indicate was some support in your hour of need.At the end of every rainbow is a smug meteorologist with a large prism.0 -

yes this board is part of a forum. but we are also the ones who take the most knocks and get slated more than anyone else. We're all MSE-ers for one reason or another.
so perhaps the other parts of the forum should be told this.Officially BR at 2.10pm on 6th May 2009, ED 7th December 2009

A very good morning to you too
Aaargh I'm trying to multi-quote but it won't let me multi-quote the same message 5 times
I should have written my post in a different order - writing everything after quoting you looks like I'm aiming it all at you
1. I wasn't referring to you in particular, just people in general.
2. I realise that not everyone sees it as a seperate forum, it just seems that way with some people. Actually some people see their fave board as their 'safe place' and won't move away from it - this drives me mad because they're missing out on so much.
3. I think it's very relevant - the OS board, for example, can be very useful for cutting food and cleaning bills. But some people won't leave the 'safety' of the BR board - and I can understand that TBH, there are some very judgemental people on some of the other boards. I was trying to say that we're all here for moneysaving, whatever the reason and no-one should be worried/scared/whatever of using the whole forum. For every poster that says something judgemental, ten will jump on them and tell them to back off.
My support for MicheH (and anyone else who needs it) is to say - visit the whole forum! I can't say much more than that really, I haven't been bankrupt and so don't know how it feels. Anything I say about it will come across as patronising and I'm most certainly not that
Bulletproof0 -
Peppa, I'm trying to quote you but it won't work
I know you take more knocks, that's why I posted
I'm sick to death of judgemental people - NOT differences of opinion, that's completely different IMO. If someone's in a state about something on the Relationships board (for example), they're not expected to give a full history of the situation, so why should you?
I tried on other parts of the forum to point people to the most useful board for them, but they've actually come back to say Ooooh no, I visited there once, it's scary'.
What?
Scared of words on a screen? They don't have to say why they're trying to moneysave, just ask for help or opinions.
Actually I'm going to PM Martin about this. Perhaps if HE says something along the lines of this is one forum, not lots of seperate ones blah blah blah then people might actually listen.Bulletproof0
