Perhaps I'm just naturally suspicious, but I wouldn't be surprised if the debuting OP returns with a company name that fixed his laptop, paid him for the privilege and cured third world poverty.

This cynical gene is a curse.

Apologies if I've got it completely wrong.

We do remote support for business customers, but could be expensive if its a log solution to your problem.

My brother: https://www.browncomputers.co.uk will help you out remotely.

Just say Matt your brother gave me your web address.

I have a very good idea what Dell will say:
Firstly they will get you to do a whole load of checks including msconfig, then possibly change a few files, finally ask you to insert you windows cd and reformat.
  • dell have done all the checks over phone and they said the hardware is working fine...what happend was at one point i was getting loads of pop ups and they were doing my swede in so i thought i,d do a system restore well before the restore completed the laptop went funny..it starts up then goes straight to this blue page thats says dump memory ect with all these number and !!!! going down then it just re-starts and re-starts...dell tried the option about putting my disc in and re-installing windows ect but the option repair mode isnt there...its really doing my head in ...

Is it stable while in Safe Mode?

Note: To start up in SM, tap the F8 key during boot up. This might allow you to get in and run a virus scanner.

    Good luck. :)

Shift key not working seems to be one problem.
