MFI refusing to fit replacement oven.

Edwinac, do double ovens usually need a 45A cooker outlet? My parents have ordered a new double oven and the appropriate carcass for it, to replace a single oven but they had not thought about any different electrical requirements. Their old oven plugs into a normal socket within the existing carcass.
Paddyp - sorry to hijack your thread. I didn't want to start a new one just for this and hopefully the answer to my question will be useful to people anyway.0 -
..will most likely not work through a standard plug socket 13amp supply. Find out the power rating from the supplier of the new oven and check the current supply to the existing (you may be able to get a clue from the fuse box), as it might be on a cooker supply anyway.
to fit any oven apart from 13 amp plug in, you should really use a qualified (and Part P registered?) spark.0 -
Try writing to Head Office (details on MFI's website)
We have recently had trouble with an MFI capri worktop that split 2 years after fitting. Got nowhere fast when I rang the store, so I rang Trading Standards. They told me to write to the director of kitchens at head office (recorded delivery) quoting the Supply of Goods and Services Act of 1982, which states that the goods should have been of ‘a satisfactory quality and durable’.
Promptly got a phone call from the director's office . They rang the store and arranged for someone to refit the worktop. We have paid a percentage of the cost, and MFI have paid the rest.
May be worth a try!?:j0 -
