Help with RBS

Hello all, just looking for a bit of help.I have held a rbs account for years with no charges and then suddenly found myself struggling a bit (as we all have) Looking online on my statements, i was shocked to see that the charges applied to my account since January 2009 (8 months) total £739.
The latest one of these was because i used my cheque guarantee card on a cheque for £120 and there was only £100 in the account. They have charged me £140 for this?? In the past, this charge has been £35 so how can they justify £140?
Anyway, i have printed off the initial letter demanding the refund of the charges and a reply within 14 days.Any idea what happens next? Will they actually get in touch with me and if i receive no reply, what do i do next??

Is your cheque guarantee card for £250.00?Hello all, just looking for a bit of help.I have held a rbs account for years with no charges and then suddenly found myself struggling a bit (as we all have) Looking online on my statements, i was shocked to see that the charges applied to my account since January 2009 (8 months) total £739.

I have guaranteed card payment fee of £35.00 plus a maintenance charge or £28.00 so that is £63.00 so where is the other £77.00 from?
If you are not claiming under financial hardship they will tell you about the OFT test case and that your case is filed and will be dealt with once the OFT test case issues are completed.0 -
I have found the £140 is an accumulation of charges, the £35 guarantee card fee plus 2 other transactions. One was at tesco for £2.05 and the other was petrol for £10 which they have charged me £77 for.Nice eh? i have been in touch with them today,i have stopped all of my direct debits and have moved my wage income to another account therefore leaving my rbs account with no activity. They will not freeze the account to enable me to pay into it each month to bring the overdraft down but will continue to charge me the interest and charges for being over my unauthorised overdraft. What shall i do?my plan was to pay £50 per month into it to gradually bring it down but that will now only pay the interest and maintenance fee so i will not get anywhere with it at all.my overdarft is for £1600 but after the charges were applied, i am now £2020 overdrawn.I cannot afford to get in below the overdraft.Has anyone any suggestions how i can go about getting them to stop adding interest and maintenace fees to enable me to get the account back in order? i have sent a refund of charges request (template from this forum).i am starting to really worry now as if i do nothing, i am going to get deeper and deeper but i cant see a soluiton and they were less than helpful on the phone. They basically say its your fault, you sort it out or else you will be at least £50 a month worse off every month.what do i do?0

I am surprised they will not put a payment plan in place to help you even if it is for 6 months.0 -
The exact same has happened to me. My original overdraft was £700 but because of charges I am now £1300 over drawn. I called the bank & they were really unhelpful but then I got a member of my family to call on my behalf. He went on the phone being really rude & agressive & now the bank has agreed to freeze my £28 mantainence charges & have credit £114 back into my bank account. I have not sent my reclaim letter to the bank yet but i was just wondering will my reclaim be affected since the bank has paid me £114 back?0

Furthermore to this I called my branch today just to check my account balance, the person on the phone was really rude to me & told me they wouldnt deal with my account. Is this the usual reaction? The exact same has happened to me. My original overdraft was £700 but because of charges I am now £1300 over drawn.
