answered the phone today about 4.00
girl on other end - could i speak to _________(my son)
me - er who is it??
girl - HR at RPS
me- you are ringing his emergency contact number - its his mum here - do you want his new phone number?
(HR at his old employers btw he left in June on ill health)
girl - oh well could i discuss with you the fact that in June we overpaid him by £5..........
me - at this point i butted in and said 'you shouldnt be discussing this with me its confidential information'l
girl- yes but....
me - let me give you his phone number and you can discuss the matter with him
girl - but
me - his number is________________
havent they heard about confidential information or the data protection act? and i know cos both my sons worked for them, in different jobs, their contract stated they couldnt discuss their pay!
 i would be fuming if any employers of mine had done this especially as this particular office has delayed his benefit claim by not supplying the forms benefit office has asked for until last wednesday:mad::mad::mad:

that is disgracful! i would be making a formal complaint to the company about breaching the data protection act.Debt free 3 years early :j
Savings for house deposit - very healthy
Cash back earnt so far £14.570 -
And if they don't act on your complaint, go to the ICO, and mention going to them in your complaint to the company - it might make them act, after they change their underwear0

ty - who do i complain to? head office at RPS? in writing or email? or should i complain direct to data protection? i am really furious about this............ but ......my other son works for them - will it affect him? er who is ICO? i have never heard of them.0

Are you annoyed about more things than this silly phone call? Sounds like it might only be "the straw that broke the camel's back" (ie something about delaying his benefit claim).
If it's purely the phone call I'd leave it. In the grand scheme of things it sounds like you made your point during the call. Does your son want you to make a fuss?0 -
It is probably a young girl who doesnt know/understand DP. Do you really want to get her in trouble? I would maybe phone and say (nicely) that it has happened and suggest that they might want to brush up on the DP knowledge and then leave it at that.0

my other son works for them - will it affect him? .
most probably - he will forever be known as the son of the old battleaxe that kicked up a fuss when a temp made a mistake.
just do as others suggest - write a letter stating you don;t expect it to happen again and then forget it.
It really annoys me that people cannot understand that mistakes always happen. There's no need to get all righteous and all knowing when you point out people's / companies errors.

if it was a temp i would say nowt - but i deliberately didnt name the lady who happens to be in charge of HR for this area - she should know better!
but now i have calmed down a bit - i will let it drop as firefox is right!!!!!!!!!!! ty firefox its been a bad time over the last few months for my son and my daughter in law employment wise and this was a straw which broke the camels back.
its up to son if he wants to make an issue of it along with his complaint to head office about them not sending forms to benefit people in timely manner. if son hadnt checked in time his claim would have been closed down today!0 -
i have just realized that firefox1974 called me an old battleaxe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and i thanked him/her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
duhhhhhhhhhh I am so slooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww today
ROFL
yes mistakes do happen, thats why legislation is in place to make people aware of consequence

...........and you'll have felt a million times better for it! You'll never stop being fiercely protective of your 'cubs' (I haven't and they're 29 and 31), but you've made the wisest choice - have a paddy on here then let it go. :T0 -
