I received a PCN for parking opposite my house it said for parking longer than the maximum period which was 24hrs and no return within 3 hours. It says it was observed from 11:31 12/08/09 to 11:31 12/08/09 and issued 11:31 12/08/09 (could this mean that my car as not been observed for any lengh of time at all?). I was parked in car park during day as I have a work van but went out in my car between the hours of 7pm and 11pm Which is more than 3 hours. The PCN also states the car park as being in a different car park to the one I was actually parked in, it is a car park around the corner on another street. Does anyone know how I could prove I wasn't on the car park stated and took my vehicle out for more than 3 hours. Or would you think this ticket to invalid?

AFAIK its not up to you to prove you were not at the car park they say you were at but to them to prove that you were, if you see what I mean. Assuming the two parks are not classed as one then the contravention did not occur. I assune this is a council car park, is it? Copy/scan/photo the pcn if its a council one and host on tinypic as per the instructions at the top and leave a gap between the http:// and the rest and put the url on here. One of the experts can look at it and advise.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Hi. Write into them pointing out the time discrepancy. If they should have given an observation time or havent recorded the time properly, you could have it cancelled. If you say you were not in that car park, they will order a site check to confirm where you were, if teh CEO images are not conclusive. If it comes up saying you were elsewhere, then it will be cancelled. However, if you can prove you were elsewhere ie you bought petrol or a P&D ticket elsewhere, provide that. Always write in, you never know.0
