Inexpensive Monitor?

The monitor on my 4 year old Dell has just packed up, I need to replace it but as cheaply as possible. I usually use my laptop anyway, so this will only be for occasional use.
It only needs to be 17'' but 19'' would also be fine. I don't play games on it, it's just mainly for the internet. Any recommendations for something that is inexpensive, but won't stop working next week?
Would prefer to order online.
Thanks

this will give DVI

I have speakers separately, that came with the original PC, so I dont think I need those.
Sorry this ''VGA only,do you use DVI?'' is a foreign language to me - i'm not very technical!!
That price is ok, £80 delivered would be about the most I would want to pay really - just because I'm not going to use it very often.
I notice a lot of the new monitors are widescreen style, rather than the older 17'' square monitors - is one type better than the other?0 -
The new style 16:9 is really is to watch movies, and have two A4 documents side by side
DVI is the new video connector. Google DVI connector. The VGA standard is 15 pin "D" connector, check out the socket on your PC video card.0 -
if your PC has DVI then go with DVI
easy to check
look on the back of the PC where the cable to the old monitor connects
a blue connector is VGA
white is DVI
you can see both here0 -
Thanks for explaining, it's VGA.0

well the play.com one has both for future upgrades
bigger screen with a good resolution but budget name

Worth checking out your local Gumtree... I bought a mint condition, boxed Sony 19" LCD monitor off some bloke for about £15/£20 which I found on Gumtree. Works perfect and is brilliant hooked up to my Xbox 360 and Surround Sound System
