Adding someone onto an existing bank account

Hi
My partner and I are looking to have a joint bank account. He has an existing account with HSBC and is very happy with them whereas I am with Barclays and am unhappy (to put it mildly!)
Can my OH add me on to his bank account and transfer my wages/dd's etc over or would we have to start a brand new account?
Sorry if someone has already asked about this, I searched but couldn't find any threads that covered this.
Thanks

Pretty sure you would need to open a new joint account and it may just be simpler to do so.
Why don't you each keep your own account and then have a joint account for the shared bills/expenses?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
We just added a name to one of our Barclays accounts to make it a joint one.0

Ok thanks, I think we are going to go to speak to OH's guy at the bank. He's apparently really helpful so will speak to him about it and have a talk with OH and see what he thinks is best.
