Ikea -Rare Praise!

I went into Ikea Warrington today to order 3 Pax wardrobes to be delivered.

One of the assistants was really helpful and printed a list of exactly what I needed. I explained it was for home delivery, but she advised that I had to pick everything up, pay for it and then take it to the home delivery point. As I have just had IVF (& still waiting on the results) I can't lift anything heavy,so she said that she could order it to be dispatched to me directly to me, but that can take 3-6 weeks, or if I wanted, one of the warehouse staff would do it for me, so I could have home delivery in 48 hours!

The chap took my list, said take a seat, got all the flat packs, hinges etc and took it to the till. The girl on the till rang it through and then called someone over who wheeled it out of the building to Delivery Point.

I don't normally associate Ikea with that kind of service, usually its hard work, but praise where it is due. :T

Winky x
Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before

We were told exactly the same thing about getting big stuff delivered from the shop, 'get it yourself and take it to the delivery point' so we thought sod that and ordered it off the web, it does all the list for you and delivery is cheaper, it took about 2 weeks to come.

To be fair though, we've bought loads of stuff from there in the last few weeks, 6 pax wardrobes (with all the gubbins inside), 6 billy bookcases with doors, 2 benbo(?) cd cabinets with doors, 2 malm drawer chests, a folding bed thing, and lots of small items, and not ONE thing has been marked/damaged/wrong, and its cheaper and better quality than argos and the like.

Good luck putting them together, especially if they're tight up against the ceiling, we had about 3 inches spare and could build them on the floor then tilt them up. Phew.
    Out on blue six..

While you could argue it's a bit of a cheek asking you to cart all your furniture to the checkout, when I bought a big old set of shelves a few years ago, I was amazed that even though it was about 11pm they would still put them in a van there and then and follow me home, meaning the home delivery was instantaneous! Cost me £20 or so, but well worth it I thought.
